Schoolgirl allegedly dragged into bushes and raped on Macleay Island

A girl has allegedly been dragged into a bush and sexually assaulted by a stranger on Macleay Island, south east of Brisbane. 

A 20-year-old man has been charged with rape after allegedly following a schoolgirl who had just gotten off a bus near Hamilton Parade and forcing her into a bush yesterday afternoon.

Police allege the girl was knocked unconscious and managed to escape when she woke up, as the man fled.

A man has been charged after he allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage girl on Macleay Island, south east of Brisbane.

The girl raised the alarm and a nearby resident came to her aid.

The man was later found in bushland off Cooee Crescent and arrested.

He was also charged with one count of disabling in order to commit an indictable offence.

The accused is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court later today.
