Pilot killed in small aircraft crash in Melbourne's south-east

A pilot has died after crashing his microlight aircraft south-east of Melbourne this morning.

The crash happened at Koo Wee Rup, 63 km south-east of Melbourne in Victoria.

It is understood that the man took off from the airfield, when the weight-shift microlight aircraft crashed about 6.50am this morning.

Victoria Police said the man died at the scene.

He was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
