Ex-MasterChef contestant avoids conviction for assaulting teen girl

A former MasterChef contestant has avoided a criminal conviction after admitting to assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Ben Ungermann, 37, admitted to assaulting the teenager in a Docklands hotel room in Melbourne after giving her alcohol.

The court ordered Ungermann, who appeared on the cooking reality show in 2017, to pay a $1000 fine to charity and write an apology letter to the victim.

More to come.
