Victoria records one new local virus case

Victoria has recorded one new local coronavirus case over the past 24 hours.

The case is a primary close contact of a previous case, and has been in isolation throughout the infectious period.

The new case comes as hundreds of close contacts are in isolation after two cases of COVID-19 emerged at a Melbourne dry cleaner since a worker returned from a Sydney green zone.

His infected co-worker caught the Delta variant of the virus at a birthday party hosted by his daughter in the Sydney suburb of West Hoxton at the weekend.

The party has since been dubbed a "super-spreader" event.
