A man will face court today charged over the alleged murder of another man in Newcastle last night.
Police were called to a unit on Regent St, Mayfield, at 6.30pm on Saturday after being made aware of a body – a man aged 63 – in a bedroom.
One hour later, a 35-year-old man was arrested in Argenton and was taken to Waratah Police Station.

He was charged with one count of murder.
The man has been refused bail and will appear via video link at Newcastle Bail Court later today.

A post-mortem exam will be conducted tomorrow.
