Victoria marks five consecutive days of zero local cases of COVID-19

Victoria has recorded its fifth consecutive day of zero local cases of coronavirus as the New Zealand travel bubble reopened to the state this morning.

There were two cases detected in hotel quarantine and more than 20,000 test results were received.

The state is still managing 23 active cases of COVID-19 as COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar yesterday warned Victorians still needed to remain alert.

It comes as tens of thousands of Victorians are returning from red and orange zones around the country.

Victoria is among the four states and territories permitted to fly to New Zealand for a holiday after crushing its latest coronavirus outbreak.

Travellers must be able to return a negative COVID-19 within 72 hours of departure.
