Plane lands upside down in ocean off Queensland coast

A light plane has crashed off the Queensland coast, sparking a massive emergency response.

Police said the plane had gone down at about 9.10am (AEST) off Redcliffe, in the Moreton Bay region.

The Coast Guard and police are working to gain access to the vehicle, which is currently upside down in the water.

It is not known how many people are on board or what their condition is.

Multiple ambulances are mustered at Redcliffe Airport.
