Teen who allegedly went to nightclub while COVID-19 positive arrested

A 19-year-old South Australian man accused of partying while knowingly COVID-19 positive has been arrested and charged by police.

Today officers arrested Ralph MacIntosh from Kensington Park and charged him with failing to comply with directions under the state's Emergency Management Act.

Police will allege Mr MacIntosh remained at an Adelaide nightclub called Loverboy after he was informed by SA Health that he had returned a positive COVID-19 test.

He was bailed and is due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in February.

The maximum penalty for his charge carries a $20,000 fine or up to two years in prison.

Following his attendance at Loverboy, 150 patrons and staff who were at the nightclub were forced into isolation and the club had to close its doors as a result.
