Beach closed after shark spotted at Victorian holiday hotspot

A shark has been spotted swimming nearby a popular Victorian holiday destination, leading to the beach being closed.

VicEmergency has advised a 2.5 metre-long white shark was seen heading west from Eastern Beach at Lakes Entrance in Gippsland towards the entrance to the lake.

The beach at Lakes Entrance has been closed to reduce the threat to people.

Anyone who sees a shark is advised to report the sighting by calling Triple Zero (000) or notifying patrolling lifesavers immediately.
