A funeral has been held for slain Sydney gangster Ghassan Amoun after he was shot dead on a suburban street last week.
Friends and family gathered at Rookwood Cemetery today to farewell Amoun, the brother of notorious crime boss Bassam Hamzy.
Amoun, 35, was gunned down at Rawson Road at the intersection of the Great Western Highway, South Wentworthville, last Thursday.

9News understands police warned Amoun, a Brothers 4 Life member, that he was a target when he was released from jail early last week.
Amoun is the latest victim of an ongoing underworld war with the Alameddine crime network.
A car found alight shortly after the shooting in a nearby street is believed to be related to the incident.
Police released an image of a Mini Cooper that was allegedly stolen from Warrawee in November last year.

That same car was used in Amoun's execution before it was torched.
Officers predicted it would be used in the city's ongoing gang wars.
Acting Superintendent Glen Fitzgerald said last week the shooting is "quite obviously targeted" with "obvious connections to criminal networks".

He described the shooting as a "very brutal attack" during daylight hours.
"Any type of incident like this is a worry," he said.
"This is what happens when firearms are in the possession of the wrong people."
