Man arrested over alleged stabbing in Sydney's west

A man has been arrested over the fatal stabbing of another man in western Sydney.

The 56-year-old man is in police custody after he allegedly fled the scene of the alleged attack in Toongabbie at around 6.30 yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Toongabbie and found a 45-year-old man with stab wounds to his abdomen and head lying outside his home on Valeria Street.

A 45-year-old man died after a stabbing attack in Toongabbie.

Police officers gave him first aid, but the man died before paramedics arrived.

It is understood that he was father-of-one, Shane Naylor.

"It wasn't a random attack," Detective Acting Inspector Adam Wilson from NSW Police said.

"It was targeted," he said.

The attack has left locals disturbed.

"It's not really good because it's close to home. We all have kids around here," local Carrie Darcy said.

Strike Force Haskett has been formed to investigate the incident, with detectives from Blacktown Police Area Command and the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad working together.
