Saltwater crocodile spotted at popular Darwin beach

A saltwater crocodile made a splash with locals at a popular Darwin beach on Friday.

Tiwi resident Jill Huck was among the beachgoers who spotted the reptile paddling in the shallows of Casuarina Beach at about 7am.

There was a mixture of "concern and intrigue" as Ms Huck and several dog walkers took photos from a distance.

A saltwater crocodile made a splash with locals at a popular Darwin beach on Friday.

"There was a bit of excitement on the beach," Ms Huck said.

"Even though you know they're out there, you don't see them very often."

Ms Huck said she has only seen two of them at Casuarina Beach in the past 18 months.

There was "concern and intrigue" as Ms Huck and several dog walkers took photos from a distance.

When Ms Huck shared her photos on social media, they generated a lot of interest.

"We like a good crocodile story here in the Northern Territory," she said.

"Croc sightings on suburban beaches are an interesting aspect of life here."
