CCTV shows moment car sends van rolling in Melbourne hit-and-run

CCTV has shown the moment a Ford sedan smashed into a van in Melbourne's south-east, leaving one man fighting for his life and another on the run.

A van was allegedly turning right into Claremont Avenue from the South Gippsland Highway in Cranbourne at about 12.45pm yesterday when it collided with a Ford sedan, according to police.

The impact of the crash caused the van to roll twice.

The driver of the Ford ran from the scene and was seen getting into a dark blue sedan travelling nearby, before the sedan sped off.

Police believe the blue car was driven by a woman, and they are seeking both people this morning.

The driver of the van, a man in his 60s, was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital with life-threatening upper body injuries.

He is still fighting for his life this morning.

Police have called for the two other people involved in the crash to come forward.

"It's a bad day out, and it is now time to make it right," Detective Sergeant Mark Amos said.

"Come and see us. Come and talk to us. I want to hear what you have to say."

Anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage or any information that could assist with the investigation into the crash has been urged to contact police.
