Thieves were seen driving stolen excavators down a Melbourne street in the early hours of the morning, with one almost hitting a pedestrian.
Police are calling for help to track down the offenders who stole the excavators from a Frankston building site, causing significant damage to the site.
Police believe several people broke into a building site on the corner of Fletcher Street and Cranbourne Road in Frankston, in Melbourne's south-east, before they stole multiple excavators and caused significant damage.

It appears the excavators were driven around the building site, before one crashed through the site fence, according to police.
A man who has reported seeing an excavator being driven down Beach Street about 2am has told police he had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by excavator.
He has told police one of the offenders asked him for cocaine before yelling, "Welcome to Frankston".
Police say the offenders then drove down Stanley Street and dumped an excavator in Queen Street.
It is believed the excavator was also driven up onto a footpath and used to damage a medical centre fence on the corner of Beach and Stanley streets.
Police are calling for witnesses or anyone with information or dashcam footage to come police.
