In smash repair yards across America, those in the know are hunting for wrecked Teslas to help turn classic cars into modern, electric marvels.
Classic cars may be beautiful, but the combustion engine is on the way out, with sales deadlines already in place in jurisdictions such as California and Europe.
Mark Wagner, like more and more people in the United States, decided electric was the way to go.

"I actually went and found this car for the express purpose of converting it," he said.
"It would be my forever car."
EV West in California, which did the conversion, is one of the few places converting classic cars to electric, but has a five-year waiting list.

The business relies on an abundance of motors and batteries from Tesla, but with such high-demand for vehicle's from Elon Musk's company, they're not easy to come by,.
Instead the business's workers go looking for written-off Teslas with everything they need.
"There's a bit of competition even on the wrecked ones, but I think that we've kind of perfected the process," EV West CEO Michael Bream told 9News.
"We're very efficient with it. And we're conscious we make sure that the bits that we don't use go to the proper resources so that they can be used in repairing Teslas that are on the road now or the materials can be recycled for manufacturing in the future."
