Smoke and flames seen after small plane goes missing near Sydney

A small plane is believed to have crashed south west of Sydney.

Smoke and fire have been seen in thick bushland near Appin Road at Appin in Macarthur.

Police have confirmed an aircraft is missing in the area after taking off from the small private Wedderburn Airport.

Fire crews and the RFS helicopter are there to extinguish the blaze.
