The fourth COVID-19wave has been declared "officially over" in Queensland, meaning masks are no longer recommended in the state.
Acting Premier and Health Minister Steven Miles made the announcement today just before midday, indicating the state's community transmission levels are at a low rate.
"BREAKING: Queensland's fourth COVID wave is officially over, with our COVID status going back down to green," Miles wrote on Twitter.

"This means masks are no longer suggested in public spaces or healthcare settings."
The state was previously in the amber category of the state's traffic light health advice system, meaning there were moderate rates of community transmission and masks were recommended in various locations.
The main difference between amber and green classifications is the mask recommendation being lifted in places like healthcare settings and on public transport.
