Melbourne ready for day two of the beloved Moomba Festival

The second night of Melbourne's beloved Moomba Festival will see the BMX Skate Park Leagues National Final and the Junior Girls and Boys Wakeboard Finals.

A carnival, fireworks and dance workshop will also be on the cards for day two of the five-day family festival in Melbourne CBD.

The fun will begin at 5pm and round out at 10pm, ahead of three full days of activity over the long weekend.

An array of colourful characters have taken to the Yarra River to show their flying skills in Moomba Festival's Birdman Rally.

From the Birdman Rally, to performances and silent discos, this year's event is promising to have something for everyone.

"Melbourne is ready for Moomba magic," Lord Mayor Sally Capp said.

It's the first time in the festival's 69-year history it will be running an extra day.

Rob Mills and Rhonda Burchmore are this year's Moomba Festivalmonarchs, titles held last year by 9News newsreader Peter Hitchener and radio host Fifi Box.

"We are very happy to be here and to be sharing it with everybody," Capp said.

"(We are) excited for everyone who comes to the Moomba Festival, to share with them the music and make happy everyone."
