Teen boy dies after car crashes into tree on Easter Sunday

A teenage boy has died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Adelaide's south.

Police said emergency services were called to Lake Plains Road, in Lake Plains, about 64 kilometres from Adelaide, after receiving reports of the crash.

The driver of a Honda station wagon, a 17-year-old boy from Strathalbyn, died at the scene.

Lake Plains Road is expected to be closed between Taverner Road and Borrett Road for several hours.

Major Crash Investigators remain on scene and are investigating the incident.

"The death marks the 43rd life lost on South Australian roads this year compared to 20 at the same time last year," police said.

On Thursday, a father from Adelaide's north died after his van crashed into a tree.
