PlayStation set to announce new games

Gamers get ready.

PlayStation has announced its first major showcase in over 600 days.

Mark the date, the hour-long video game showcase is happening on Thursday, May 25.

It's going to be an early one for us Aussies: if PlayStation fans are keen to watch the event live, they'll need to tune in from 6am AEST.

The showcase is set to focus on PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 games, including a "new IP".

"Expect a glimpse at several new creations from PlayStation Studios, as well as spellbinding games from our third-party partners and indie creators," PlayStation's Sid Shuman said in a statement published to PlayStation's blog.

PlayStation's last big showcase was September 9, 2021.

The event kickstarts Summer Games Fest, an annual event that sees game makers and publishers from around the world show off their latest games and more.

Xbox is hosting its next big showcase, followed by a standalone Starfield event, on June 11.
