Woman fighting for life after car and truck collide in Melbourne's west

A woman is fighting for life after a car and truck collided in Melbourne's west.

The 49-year-old Werribee woman was trapped in her car after the crash on the Princes Highway in Werribee just before 9am.

Firefighters helped open the wreck to free her and she was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old Caroline Springs man, was not injured and stopped at the scene.

Police are investigating the crash.

The Princes Highway remains closed in both directions.
