Popular yoghurt sold at Woolies Coles recalled over E.coli fears

Two flavours of a popular yoghurt brand sold at both Woolworths and Coles are being urgently recalled over fears they may contain traces of a dangerous bacteria.

Aussies who have recently purchased Jalna Dairy Foods' Lactose Free Vanilla (1kg) and Sweet & Creamy Greek Coconut (1kg​) are being urged to either return the products to the place of purchase, or throw them out, due to the potential contamination of E. coli.​

The affected vanilla flavour will have use by date of July 28, while the affected coconut flavour will have a use by date of August 2.

​​​The products had on sale in major supermarkets across the country including Coles, IGA, and Woolworths.

"Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice. and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund," Food Standards Australia and New Zealand said.

E.coli is a bacteria found in the intestines of humans and animals but particular strains can cause severe illness.

The most common way to get an E.coli infection is by eating contaminated food, which may lead to stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting or bloody diarrhea.
