Wild brawl erupts between shoppers at NSW supermarket

Police are investigating a wild brawl at a supermarket in north-east New South Wales involving a group of shoppers.

Video provided to 2GB's Ben Fordham shows two women throwing fists at each other in the Woolworths store in Tamworth last Thursday at about 5pm before others joined in.

They included a woman who can be heard saying "hold my baby" to a nearby man before rushing in and hurling punches.

Footage showed women pulling at each other's hair and men being shoved into shelves.

Staff at the store on Peel Street in Tamworth shouted for the fighting to stop and attempted to break up the brawlers.

The video has now been handed to police who said an investigation into the incident has begun.

"Officers attached to Oxley Police District were told a group of people became involved in a verbal argument before a physical altercation ensued," they said in a statement.
