An elderly couple are lucky to be alive after being pulled from their burning home by quick-thinking neighbours in Brisbane's west overnight.
The Indooroopilly property went up in flames at about 11pm yesterday, trapping a woman and her husband, who was nursing a broken leg sustained prior to the fire, inside.
The situation soon could have proven deadly if it weren't for two neighbours who heard the woman's cries for help from their own home and sprung into action.

"It was pretty apparent how bad things had got really quickly," one of the neighbours told 9News.
"There were embers going all the way up to, at least as high as some of these trees. We didn't really think twice.
"We just went down the side, we found him there and we just, yeah, we had to carry him out."
It took 14 crews - over 40 firefighters - to eventually extinguish the blaze.
Neighbouring properties were also forcibly evacuated, though the fire was contained before it could spread.

The elderly man was transported to hospital where he is now in a stable condition.
Police are now working to determine the cause of the blaze.
