Man charged after weekend siege in Brisbane

A man has been charged after an hours-long siege in Brisbane over the weekend.

Police were called to a York Street address in Nundah at about 2pm on Sunday, July 16, after reports a man there was allegedly armed with a gun.

On arrival, officers were told a man had barricaded himself inside the residence.

Police siege underway in Brisbane

An exclusion zone was established before the man was arrested just after midnight on Monday.

It will be alleged a gun was found inside the property a short time later.

Nobody was injured during the operation.

A 32-year-old Zillmere man has now been charged.

It will be alleged the man had been wanted by police in relation to a number of weapons and criminal offences, and was the subject of an appeal by police on Saturday.

The 32-year-old has been charged with 13 offences including five counts of contravention of domestic violence order, two counts of stealing, and one count each of serious assault police officer, dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of weapons, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), robbery in company and willful damage.

He is due to appear in court today.
