Qantas is rolling out a new boarding groups trial from this week in an attempt to reduce the hassle around getting on the plane.
The trial will see customers board in groups based on their seats, with group numbers included on boarding passes. Premium customers will still have a dedicated priority boarding lane.
The airline is also going to test out new gate infrastructure, signage, and announcements.

The aim is to get customers in their seats quicker and reduce time waiting in line.
Group boarding procedures are commonly used in Europe and the US.
Customers will be contacted in advance if their flight is involved in a trial and will be invited to participate in a survey following boarding.
Trials will roll out on flights from Brisbane over the next two weeks followed by other major airports, and a wider implementation in October.
