Traffic worker dies after being hit by car in Melbourne

A traffic worker has died in Melbourne overnight after he was struck by a car.

Police were called to the Eastern Freeway near Hoddle Street, in Clifton Hill, at about 12.15am.

It's believed a man was working on the freeway when he was hit by a Toyota sedan.

A traffic worker has died after he was hit by a car in Clifton Hill, Melbourne.

He was taken to hospital where he later died.

The 27-year-old driver of the Toyota was arrested and is currently assisting police with their investigations.

Drivers are warned to expect delays in the area as police investigate the scene.
