Fans and players set to swelter for AFL grand final

The weather is turning it on as fans gather to watch the 2023 AFL Grand Final on a warm Melbourne day.

The Victorian capital is set for a top of 29 degrees with the skies expected to say clear over the top of the MCG at 2.30pm, when the match between Collingwood and Brisbane kicks off.

The sunny weather will be a change for both players and fans, who have been used to winter conditions for the majority of the season.

The hottest AFL grand final on record was 31 degrees in 2015 for the West Coast and Hawthorn clash.

It might not be a record breaker but both players and fans are expected to swelter.

Where to watch?

If you're not one of the lucky 100,000 people who got their hands on a golden ticket to the MCG, there are plenty of places to immerse yourself in the atmosphere.

There are four live sites to watch from in Melbourne and Brisbane has one to cheer on their Lions.

Those in the footy capital can watch from either Federation Square, Yarra Park, Melbourne Park or Olympic Park Oval.

Those in the Sunshine State can watch the game and go for a swim at Brisbane's Southbank.

The Lions home city is set for a top of 27 degrees with 62 per cent humidity.

Of course, there are pubs and clubs across the country that will be packed with fans cheering on the Pies or Lions.
