KFC teases Krusher return as social media speculation rages

Fast food giant KFC has teased the return of its one-time "Krusher" drink following a spate of community intrigue on social media.

KFC stopped selling Krushers - which are crushed ice milkshakes that came in a variety of flavours including Mocha, Golden Gaytime, Kookies 'n' Kream and Chocolate Cornetto - in 2019.

An online petition was started almost immediately after the drinks were pulled from stores, attracting more than 10,000 signatures.

Fast forward to 2023, and the long-awaited return - or demise - of the KFC Krusher is once again hot conversation on platforms such as TikTok.

Social media influencer Lachy Mac posted a video to his 154,000 Instagram followers begging KFC to bring back the drink, sparking up the debate all over again.

The video discusses what has happened in Australia since the menu item was removed from the menu, and pokes fun at the brand's Cola BBQ wicked wings.

"I think I speak for all Australians when I say KFC, bring back Krushers," he says in the video.

"You had the chance to bring them (Krushers) back, but what did you do? You brought out Cola BBQ wicked wings - who is eating that?"

Krusher fans were quick to find the video and express their want for the drink's return.

"They need to be brought back. They should have never been taken away!," one Instagram user commented.

McIntyre, known online as Mac, told 9News.com.au that he decided to make the video because he is a "patriot".

"I was doing what my [Aussie] heroes would want me to do, bring back the Krusher," he said.

When contacted by 9News.com.au for a definitive ruling, a spokesperson for KFC refused to confirm or deny the fate of the Krusher.

"Will KFC's iconic Krushers make a comeback or won't they?" the spokesperson said.

"Few delicious mysteries have captivated Aussie hearts, minds and tastebuds quite like this one.

"We'll never say never, so keep a close eye on our menu to see which mouthwatering treat will drop next!"
