Thieves target boxing legend Jeff Fenech's Sydney home

Boxing champion Jeff Fenech and his family have been left terrified after a number of thieves allegedly broke into his home in Sydney overnight.

The former world champion told 2GB's Ben Fordham first this morning that the thieves were deliberately targeting his family's car keys.

He later told Today that his family were asleep when the offenders broke into their home in Five Dock through the laundry window.

"It's scary and very terrifying," Fenech said.

Fenech said he woke up to a commotion early this morning, seeing police cars across the road.

"We woke up early this morning to see police doing their job," he said.

"We found out that the people they were chasing had already robbed our house.

"We were lucky. The police have done a great job and they stopped them."
