The armed man who was shot dead by police outside a New South Wales medical centre has been identified.
Alexander Stuart Pinnock, 34, attended a medical centre in Nowra yesterday where he allegedly became agitated while seeing a doctor and pulled a gun.
Police were called and negotiations occurred with Pinnock for nearly two hours.

Four people who were inside the medical centre at the time managed to escape.
During negotiations, Pinnock emerged from the medical centre but refused to surrender to police.
He picked up a ballistic shield dropped by an officer while waving his gun, prompting police to fire several shots.
"He was hit multiple times," Assistant Commissioner Peter Cotter said yesterday.
Pinnock died at the scene.

Cotter said Pinnock didn't have a significant criminal history but was known to police through psychological medical episodes.
Pinnock faced court last year after facing charges over pretending to be a lawyer under the alias Alec Stuart and representing at least one client in court despite having no formal qualifications.
Pinnock was spared jail time and copped a $3500 fine and a community corrections order instead.
During an interview with A Current Affair on the charges, Pinnock said he was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2014 and experienced psychosis during the time he was a fake lawyer.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident while a critical incident team will look into the police's actions yesterday.
NSW Police has notified the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) of the critical incident and an investigation is underway.
"The NSWPF are investigating the circumstances of the incident and this investigation will be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command," the LECC said.
"The LECC is independently monitoring the investigation of the critical incident under Part 8 of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission Act 2016 to ensure public confidence in the investigation."
