Homicide police investigate man's death in Melbourne's north

Police have launched a homicide investigation after the death of a man in Melbourne's north overnight.

The 42-year-old was found with life-threatening injuries at an apartment building on Drummond Street in Carlton at about 11.45pm yesterday.

Paramedics rushed him to hospital, where he later died.

Police have established a crime scene and homicide squad detectives started an investigation.

Forensic examiners early today have been examining the streets surrounding the apartment building, as well as the foyer of the complex, looking for any evidence.
