Jesse Baird and Luke Davies are believed to have been murdered.

Australian journalist Lachlan Kennedy took to Twitter to remember his colleague.

"His talent was undeniable & energy infectious."

"Jesse Baird has had the brightest of futures stolen from him For years we chatted footy, utes & country music, so because I can't find the words right now, I'll let Cody sing it"

The AFL also put out a statement, offering their support to Baird's family and friends.

"We will continue to offer support to Jesse's family and counselling to any of our team members in umpiring and the wider AFL football department regarding the news today.

"The entire AFL family's thoughts are with both Jesse and Luke's families, as well as our umpiring and broader team during this very difficult time."

A friend of Baird's, who knew him through his Aussie rules job, told 9News he was a "magical human" with "the most beautiful heart".

"The worst part of it is knowing how much of a beautiful soul he is and if he's had to go through something that we think he has it's just not fair," she told 9News.

"If you had the privilege of meeting Jessie, he's one of the best souls you'll ever meet in your life."

David Mason, a friend of Davis, remembered Luke as an "outgoing" person.

"If you knew Luke, he's the type of person who wouldn't hurt a fly," he told 9News.

"To think that someone would hurt him ... it makes me feel sick."

Social media influencer and LGBTQ+ activist Tim Abbot expressed his "anger" at the "heartbreaking loss" to his 113,000 Instagram followers.

"To all those that knew Jesse and Luke, to their close friends and family, you're all I'm thinking about right now.

"This is an unimaginable and horrific loss to our community.

"Rest in power Jesse and Luke."

Friends have also taken to the couple's Instagram pages to share their memories and offer condolences.

"So sad. Two beautiful souls. I will never forget our fun night dancing to Pink in the pouring rain," one person wrote under a post of the couple at a recent Pink concert in Sydney.

"Rest in peace, thank you for being so kind and generous with your time when we first met on [Channel 10] years ago, and for always supporting my work since, a beautiful soul taken too soon," another said.

Both had an active social media presence and a wide group of friends and colleagues.

"You're one of the most kind, adventurous, pure souls I've ever met," a friend of Luke's said on a recent picture of the flight attendant.

"One of the kindest souls I knew, you were a light for so many people and we will never forget you," another said.
