Man shot by police in Queensland

A man has been shot by police in Queensland after allegedly threatening officers with a knife.

Police were called to Kingaroy Hospital in Kingaroy, in the rural South Burnett Region, at 7.20pm.

When they arrived a man allegedly threatened them with a knife.

Police subsequently shot the man.

Medical assistance was rendered before he was airlifted to Sunshine Coast Hospital.

A crime scene has been declared and the matter is under investigation by the ethical standards command. 

The investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
