Simmer sauce sold around the country pulled from shelves

A stovetop simmer sauce sold in major supermarkets around the country is being pulled from shelves over health fears.

Mars Australia Pty Ltd is carrying out a recall of its MasterFoods Creamy Chicken And Mushroom Cooking Sauce (490g).

The product contains an undeclared allergen - in this case, egg, according to Food Standards Australia New Zealand.

The cooking sauce has been sold in Coles, Woolworths, and independent grocers including IGA, in every state and territory.

The recall applies to jars with the best before dates of 17/11/2025, 22/12/2025, 16/02/2026, 20/04/2026, and 15/06/2026.

"Any consumers who have an egg allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed," Food Standards warned in its recall notice.

Customers can throw out the affected jar, or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
