A 35-year-old man is lucky to be alive after narrowly avoiding a truck and ramming a police car in Melbourne's west overnight.
Police first spotted the driver of a silver Ford Ranger allegedly swerving on the Princes Freeway near Laverton about 1 am.
Officers attempted to intercept the car, but the driver continued, travelling along Palmers and Sayers roads in Tarneit.

Police say the car narrowly missed colliding with a truck on Forsyth Road.
The Ford continued until it came to a stop on Dylan Street in Tarneit, before it reversed into a police car.
A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene and will be interviewed by police.
The Ford was impounded at a cost of $1225.
