Australia Post set to open up 3500 new roles

One of Australia's biggest companies is set to hire more than 3500 people ahead of the Christmas period.

Australia Post is seeking to expand its workforce, which already consists of around 64,000 people, ahead of the end-of-year major cyber sale events such as Black Friday, as well as the holiday season.

The company is searching for forklift operators, van and truck drivers, and parcel sorters to help keep up with the massive demand.

Victoria is the state in need of the most workers, with 1000 roles available, whilst New South Wales and Queensland each have 900 positions to be filled for the Christmas period.

Sue Davies from Australia Post claimed the seasonal workers drafted in made a crucial difference and would benefit all Australians.

Online purchases surged in the last quarter on the back of end-of-financial-year sales.

"Last year, we delivered almost 103 million parcels in the lead up to Christmas, thanks to the help of our seasonal team members," she said.

"Our ability to deliver parcels to customers quickly and reliably depends on the hard work and commitment of every individual we bring on board."

Australia Post currently has over 4000 locations across the country, and made $9 billion in revenue in the 2024 financial year.
