Woolworths has been forced to introduce buying limits on the amount of toilet paper customers can purchase in NSW after experiencing a "primordial urge" of panic buying.
The supermarket giant today said it was introducing a two-pack per shop limit on toilet paper, with more supplies flowing to stores from distribution centres.
The need for purchase limits comes after what Woolies boss Brad Banducci called a "frustrating" repeat of 2020.

"Frustratingly, we currently have a two-pack per shop limit on toilet paper after we've seen surge buying leading to some shortages in-store and online," Mr Banducci said in an email to customers.
"It seems the almost primordial urge to pantry stock toilet paper is still symbolic of these times.
"We expect to be back in full stock in the next few days and as previously, we'd ask you to only buy what you need."
Along with toilet paper purchase limits, Woolworths will have health and safety ambassadors at the entry of every supermarket between 9am and 7pm to ensure customers are using QR codes and wearing a mask when shopping in-store.

Mr Banducci pleaded with the general public to treat Woolworths staff with respect during trying times.
"We remain deeply appreciative of our team members on the front line, whether in our stores, distribution centres, or out making deliveries," Mr Banducci wrote.
"Please show kindness to our team as they continue to work to have essential items available for you.
"They are feeling the impact of these restrictions just as much as you are, and I don't think I can emphasise the need for mutual respect strongly enough."

Mr Banducci said all Woolworths stores to have been visited by a positive COVID-19 case in Sydney have had a deep clean since they were notified of the visits.
"We know the impact that COVID, including these latest restrictions, is having on our collective mental health," Mr Banducci said.
"It is more important than ever to look out for ourselves and each other. Thank you again for your ongoing support, patience and understanding."
