Queensland has recorded two new community cases of COVID-19, as Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced new restrictions for the state.
From tomorrow morning, a maximum of 10 visitors will be permitted at household gatherings and the two-square metre rule will be reintroduced for venues.
Currently, up to 100 people are allowed inside households in Queensland.
LIVE UPDATES: Reconsider any travel to NSW: Annastacia Palaszczuk
The new local infections are not thought to be the Delta strain of the virus currently gripping Sydney, but rather the Alpha variant, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.
"My understanding is that one of these people did not have any symptoms at the time that they were out and about in the community.
"So we're going to urge people if you have any symptoms, to go and get tested. It is absolutely critical, because we've had two cases in the community."
There has also been one new case detected in the state's hotel quarantine program.
More to come.
