A man has died in a serious car crash in Melbourne's north overnight.
The driver of a silver sedan travelling north on Plenty Road in South Morang allegedly lost control and crashed into a pole about 1.10am.
A male passenger in the car, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Eltham, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
An 18-year-old Mernda man who was also in the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
