Search effort underway for three fisherman missing off Wollongong coast

A search effort is underway after three men failed to return from a fishing trip off the coast of Wollongong yesterday.

The fisherman were last seen boarding a boat that left Bellambi Beach at 2pm yesterday.

Family members alerted authorities at 6am today when the men did not return home on time.

Officers from Wollongong Police, Marine Area Command and PolAir, along with members of Surf Life Saving NSW, are conducting a frantic search for the men.

A capsized boat has been seen in the area being searched.

It is not known if this is the boat in question.

Their ute and boat trailer have been located in the boat ramp car park at Bellambi.

Anyone with information are urged to contact police.
