Former Queensland Police officer charged with over 65 child sex offences

A former Queensland Police officer has been charged with over 70 historical sexual assault offences dating back almost 30 years.

Detectives say the alleged crimes took place between 1995 and 2002 across two separate residences at the Gold Coast.

The man was a serving officer at the time.

The 75-year-old is accused of a total of 72 offences, including 66 counts of indecent treatment of children, four counts of rape and two counts of common assault.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court in August.
