Young man dies after ute crashes at popular Queensland beach

A man in his 20s has died after his ute crashed and rolled at a popular Whitsundays beach yesterday evening.

The 24-year-old is understood to have been driving west along Dingo Beach at around 6.30pm on Wednesday when he lost control of the utility, resulting in it rolling over near Earlando Road.

The man, from Gregory River, sustained critical injuries.

Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
