Officers escape major injury after police car rolls in Sydney

Two police officers have escaped serious injury after a crash in Sydney's eastern suburbs overnight.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Maroubra Road in Maroubra at about 12.40am.

Police believe the vehicle was heading towards an urgent job in Coogee when it crashed into a silver Mercedes sedan and a green Land Rover SUV, both parked on the street.

The impact caused the vehicle to flip onto its side, causing significant damage and briefly trapping the pair inside.

The driver, a male constable and the passenger, a female probationary constable, were cut from the vehicle.

They were both taken to hospital with minor injuries.
